The American Boat & Yacht Council was formed by members of the Motorboat and Yacht Advisory Panel of the U.S. Coast Guard's Merchant Marine Council.  It was incorporated on Feburary 1, 1954, in New York State as a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation.  www.abycinc.org

The U.S. Coast Guard's Boating Safety Division (CG-5422) is dedicated to reducing loss of life, injuries, and property damage that occur on the U.S. waterways by improving the knowledge, skills, and abilities of recreational boaters.  www.uscgboating.org

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is the federal agency responsible for conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of work-related injury and illness.  NIOSH is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the Department of Health and Human Services.  www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/coboating/
